Did you know? Data loss due to hardware failure occurs 7 times more often than data loss due to computer viruses.
Hard Disk Sentinel (HDSentinel) is an application for monitoring and analyzing the health of SSDs and HDDs. Its purpose is to find, test, diagnose, and fix hard disk drive problems, and report and display SSD and HDD health, performance degradation, and failures.
Hard Disk Sentinel provides detailed textual descriptions, tips, and displays/reports the most complete information about hard drives and solid state disks inside the computer and external enclosures (USB drives/e-SATA drives). There are several alerts and report options available to ensure the optimal security of your important data.
Hard Disk Sentinel monitors the health, temperature, and parameters of S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) of all hard disk drives. In addition, it analyzes disk transfer rates in real-time, which can be used as a benchmark or to detect potential drive failures or performance degradation.
Hard Disk Sentinel can also be used to test external hard disks, SSDs, hybrid disk drives (SSHD), RAID, and Network Attached Storage (NAS) drives.
Features of Hard Disk Sentinel PORTABLE
- The PORTABLE version can be used on any computer without the need to install
- Real-time monitoring of the status of hard disk drives (HDDs), solid-state disks (SSDs), and SSHDs (hybrids).
- Diagnose drive problems (health, temperature, or performance).
- Reports and displays SSD and HDD health, performance degradation, and failures.
- Test hard disks to find, test, and fix hard disk drive problems.
- Alerts to predict and avoid HDD failures.
- Monitor hard disk drive status, including health, temperature, and all S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) values for each disk.
- Measures disk transfer rates in real-time which can be used as a benchmark or to detect possible hard disk failures, performance degradation
- Scheduled and automatic backup functions.
- Remote monitoring, advanced drive control, and management features.
- General system information and status.
Features of Hard Disk Sentinel Linux
- Check temperature and health information from IDE, S-ATA (also SATA II), SCSI, and USB drives connected to the motherboard or external controller card.
- Detects the number of drives and device names (e.g. /dev/sda).
- Displays hard disk / solid state disk information in the terminal.
- Create a comprehensive report on the disk system, including special features of the drive and SSD (e.g., media rotation speed, trim command, etc.).
- View and manage drive acoustic settings (on supported USB disks as well).
- Offers output for users and other scripts/applications to process.
Hard Disk Sentinel DOS Features
- Check the temperature and health information of IDE and S-ATA drives.
- Can modify the acoustic level of the hard disk.
- Detects drive control, vendor, and device ID. Each device has an associated number (shown in light blue)
- Displays measurements, model ID, serial numbers, and revisions of all IDE/S-ATA drives connected to this motherboard or device
- Displays the state, health, and performance values. NOTE: performance may differ compared to values detected in Windows because under DOS, UDMA mode may not be pre-selected by BIOS
- Power on time (days, hours, minutes – if supported). Note: this is for informational purposes only, the values displayed under Windows (after a few minutes of testing) are more appropriate
- Controller device or channel and device location (in light blue). For example. PM = Primary master.
